On the eleventh of May, Frances Bote, Emily Chamberlain, Tom Dennison, George Hickey and Tom Sullivan travelled to Dunedin Town Hall to attend National Youth Leaders' Day. There were over one thousand students from schools all over Otago and Southland. The theme of the day was taking opportunities and and our amazing life journey.

There were many speakers at the seminar. One of them was William Pike, who lost a leg in a volcano eruption, but didn't let his disability hold him back from his passion of adventure. Another speaker was Jamie McDell, who is a well-known kiwi singer/songwriter with a love of the ocean. Someone else who spoke was Steve Gurney who is a sports enthusiast who  has travelled around the world adventure racing. There were also head students and prefects from secondary schools who spoke.

There were lots of fun activities and we recommend Year Seven students next year as the event is a great opportunity to learn about leadership skills. -Tom Sullivan and Frances Bote (8DB)
