This is the last newsletter of the term. We are certainly on the downhill stretch through to the end of the year. Planning for 2018 is well underway with staffing and calendar dates being set. Thank you to all the parents who attended Conferencing with your sons and daughters this week. The opportunity to have some time discussing progress and potential pathways was certainly valued by our staff and we hope that you all felt the same. Remember to make sure your son or daughter has selected their options for next year via the student portal.
The first night of the Senior Production is now over and I have heard excellent comments about yet another high-quality performance from our seniors. Tickets are selling out very quickly. If you still intend going along, you will need to be in quick. Thank you to George Arthur for all his work with the drama team and to Isaac Borgman (Year 13) who helped direct the performance this year. Well done to all of the actors and helpers.
A number of our students are heading away to various representative sports tournaments during the holidays. Best of luck to all of you – travel safe, play hard and enjoy the opportunity.
I would like to extend my thanks to Mrs Joy Delahunt who has been working in the Vocational administration role while Mrs Robyn Young has been overseas this term. It is not easy to come into somebody else’s job for this length of time. We appreciate all the work you have done, Joy, and I am sure Robyn also will, on her return next term.
Parents of senior students, please remember that it is practice exams in week one of term 4. Good grades and achievement don’t happen by accident. They need preparation and hard work. Please encourage good study habits at home these holidays; the real NCEA exams will be upon us very soon!
Have a wonderful spring break and enjoy a restful time spent as a family.
Nga mihi nui,
Kate Nicholson - Principal
