On July 9, the Eastern Girls Rugby team combined with Blue Mountain and South Otago to travel up to Oamaru to compete in the South Island Secondary Schools’ Girls Rugby Tournament. We played four games of rugby a day finishing with finals at the end of the second day. We qualified for the top Four and ended up placing fourth overall. We were also named the best all round team by the referees and the opposition coaches.
Sharnee Gardyne Palmer was named our most valuable player and Sophie and Georgia Holland made the tournament team.
We would like to say a huge thanks to our coaches Kevin Holland and Phillip Mitchell for all the hard work they did bringing this team together and to our manger Kim Johnson and our own personal chef and house mother Jo Holland.
