A busy week for the students and staff at St Peter’s, with competitions to be entered and quizzes to be won. Many students have also been encouraged to log onto the MathsWeek website for more fun activities.
“Guess the Jellybeans” and “Design a mathematical postcard” are the competitions which will be judged next week and winners announced at a Monday assembly soon after.
Year 7 and 8 held their Quiz in the Hall on Thursday afternoon. It was great to see all the students participating in this challenge, with two Year 7 teams taking out 1st and 2nd! Senior students were worthy helpers, being markers for the teams.
A similar format was used for the Year 9 and 10 Quiz on Thursday morning. Two Year 9 teams had to participate in a tie-breaker question to determine the top Year 9 team, while two Year 10 teams took out 1st and 2nd.
A Year and 8 parent/student Quiz was held on Tuesday evening, and while the numbers weren’t high, the participation and enthusiasm from both the students and their parents was heartening to see.
To culminate the focus on Mathematics this week, a “Dress Mathematically” mufti day was held on Friday.
