Kia ora tatou,

During this week, we have read of the tragedy that struck Nepal last weekend.  Part of the Special Character of St Peter’s College is the willingness to support communities with less resources than our own.

As our annual Work Day approaches at the end of May our students will have the opportunity to financially contribute towards communities such as Nepal and Vanuatu.  Keep a look out for more information about Work Day over the next few weeks.

Congratulations to Charlotte Cuttance, Sian Hutchins and Sophie Casey, who have been selected to attend the Year 10 Gifted and Talented Marine Biology residential programme at the University of Otago.  This is an excellent opportunity for these students to extend their science thinking and experience real world scenarios that can be applied to their classroom learning - “hands-on” learning at it’s best.

For those affected by the Nepal earthquake

Merciful and loving God,

we pray for our sisters and brothers in Nepal,

for those who have died,

and for those who mourn.

We ask that through your grace,

you may bless and comfort your people.

For those who are afraid;

bring peace,

for those who are toiling to save;

bring strength,

and for those who are lost;

bring shelter under the shadow of your wings.

Open our hearts Lord,

help us to be with your people

through our actions and prayers,

as we hold onto hope in you.

Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
