On the 3 April, I travelled to Australia to participate in the NSW Minitrot Championships. They were held in a small town called Gunning. Unfortunately, we arrived late as Jetstar had left our entire luggage in Queenstown! The race organiser introduced me to the crowd as the NZ rep and explained our luggage problem. Within minutes, people had offered me the equipment I needed, and I was ready to race. A big thank you to the Australian drivers for their generosity. Who said Australians weren’t helpful?!!!
Day One started early, there were 60 races. After I had competed in 12 races throughout the day I was tired, but proud of my efforts and glad I had had a win, a second and a third. At the prizegiving I received six trophies. Day Two was a Fun Day which was more relaxed and I received three trophies.
I was the first NZ representative to attend this championship and would recommend it to anyone. I would like to thank HRNZ, my family who worked hard as my support crew and all of my sponsors.
