Schoolwide- Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L)

In the last two years the College has been involved with other local schools in this initiative. The Ministry of Education will roll this out to all schools in New Zealand in the next few years.

The purpose of ‘Schoolwide’ is to ensure students are taught and know the EXPECTATIONS for behaviour in and out of the classroom. These are explicitly taught and reinforced with positive comments and actions. There are still carefully crafted consequences if students choose to not follow our expectations.

The surveys and feedback we have got from students and staff in the last two years have indicated that there is an increasing awareness of our ‘Schoolwide’ expectations and consequent improvement in relationship and behaviour.

The real challenge now is to see if we can ensure that the positive behaviour framework helps enhance learning so students become more self-directed and independent in their decision making

You will see the SAFE POSITIVE COMMUNITY catch phrase around the school to highlight our initiative.
