On March 15th seventeen senior St Peter’s students travelled to Mosgiel to partake in the Social Justice Leadership Workshop hosted by the Holy Cross Seminary. This was lead by Shane Claiborne, a Christian Social Justice Archivist from Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. Together, we looked at how he built a community for the people in his city who are in need and the ways through which he is living out the Gospel in his life. This reinforced this year’s school theme ‘seeing Jesus in the face of others’, as anyone and everyone is welcome in his community, regardless of race, gender, religion and socio-economic status. In his community ‘The Simple Way’, every member works together to support each other and better each others quality of life. Shayne Claiborne is an inspirational talker, demonstrating that if you believe in your dreams thoroughly enough, you can achieve anything; change starts with one. We would like to thank the College for providing us with this once in a lifetime opportunity!
