Reports - Spirit of Adventure

Sarah Keyse Year 13

Recently I experienced one of the best times of my life.  I embarked on a 10 day journey that took me all over the Hauraki Gulf on a ship with 40 strangers.  It is an experience you will not regret. You are pushed to overcome fears and challenge yourself while sailing a ship and working together as a team   6:45am swims aren’t as bad as they sound, getting to know the ropes and learning about each other is just the beginning of this amazing trip.  I learnt skills that were communication, teamwork and leadership that will help in the future.  I recommend this trip to anyone so they can find out for themselves what it is all about.  I made so many new friends and became part of the Spirit of Adventure family.

Michaela Kelly - Year 13

On the 24th of June I made my way up to Auckland to go on a 10 day voyage on the Spirit of Adventure. On the 10 day voyage you learn lots of new skills like how to sail a ship, how to become a leader and helps you get over your fears of heights, water, etc. On the voyage I met 40 people with completely different backgrounds to me. I enjoyed taking part in the voyage and my most memorable moments would have been the 6.45 morning swims which were fun the climb to the top of the mast and the rope swing was awesome. I also saw  many whales and dolphins. I made lots of friends on board and still talk to them and share memories together about the trip. I would recommend this trip to anyone it’s a great experience and you learn a lot about yourself.
