Last year Tayla Marlow (Year 13) represented the School competing in the Gore District Council Sister City Speech Competition. She had to deliver a six minute speech about why New Zealand should or shouldn’t become the eighth state of Australia. Tayla won the competition and her prize was a trip to Tamworth, Australia and $500 spending money.
During the holidays Tayla spent ten days in Tamworth, staying with two lovely host families. During her time there she visited the sites, went to Oxley High School for a day and also saw some Australian wildlife such as kangaroos, emus and wallabies. She met some amazing people and was well looked after by the Tamworth City Council and Tamworth Sister City Committee.
Tayla had a fantastic experience and she would recommend everyone to participate in the competition in the future.
Thank you to everyone who made this trip possible, especially the Gore District Council.
