The School hall was abuzz with people as the Year 10 Commerce class held their Market Day on Friday, May 12 . After much hard work planning, compromising and communicating the Year 10's ended their 'hands on' unit of work by running a Market Day for the whole school. Students worked in groups to design, produce, market and sell a product of their choice. The learning is student-centered where each group is responsible for making their own decisions, problem solving, meeting deadlines, preparing a plan, relating to others and engaging with the school community.
This year's Market Day was amazing and well supported by all members of the St Peter's community.
The hall was packed and many people enjoyed the wide range of food available from hamburgers, donuts, ice cream sundaes, spiders, yummy baking, to American hotdogs and smores (biscuit sandwiche with filling), to name a few. Fantastic and catchy business names were created and competition was fierce between the groups. Some of the groups' logos and advertising were very creative; such as ‘Scoops n Smiles’, ‘Smores and More’, ‘Holy Donuts’ to name a few. The Year 10's need to be congratulated for showing perseverance and determination. A BIG thank you to the wonderful students who were not in the class and helped out various groups on the day to enable things to run more smoothly. The display of community spirit was awesome!
