"The St Peter's Community was saddened to hear of the death in England,on July 15th 2015, of Fr. Tony Dewhirst who was a member of staff here 1978-1981."
Extract from “The Rock” magazine, December 1981
Father Dewhirst will leave St Peter’s College for Auckland, where he will be involved in pastoral work there for the diocese.
Father came to join us in January 1978 and has taught Christian Living, Science, but particularly Biology and the past year he has had the 6th form History of Art group too, which he relished.
A determined and conscientious teacher, Father has each year made his mark on the Fair total – by preparing and boiling up pounds of fudge and sweets. And this year there was a record 82 lbs. Another continual and not seasonal interest and occupation has been his concern for and breeding of the Bio Lab rats! He and his team of Ratters have things highly organised.
