Careers Pathways Department T3 Wk9

Last week Mrs Anne Perniskie (Director of Vocational Studies) and her team took the Year 10’s offsite to the Croydon Heartland Hotel to participate in The Real Game.  This programme is designed to help students explore pathways in a career they are interested in.  It prepares them as they move into the senior school to select subjects, start CV preparation and investigate career options.  On Thursday Mr Evan Fricker came to speak to the students about buying a car as this is often their first major purchase.  On Friday a panel of six speakers from various walks of life came and spoke about their career journey.
The speakers included:

• Hope Wilson - Eastern Southland Art Gallery Events Coordinator
• Sarah Ewing - Thomas Green Assistant Manager Dr Jessica King - Trainee Intern at Invercargill Hospital
• Ben Holland - Plumber
• Cameron Winslow - Teacher
• Jeremy Pay - Cruise Ship employee

We would like to thank all our speakers for their time and the Croydon Heartland Hotel for supplying a great venue and refreshments for the three days of the programme.
