The Southland Year 8 Debating Competition is a go!
Eight teams from various schools in the district have begun the journey to glory of being crowned the top Year 8 team. St Peter's College brought two teams of three into the debating competition. The St Peter's negative team, made up of Sophie Aynsley, Molly Haisman, Maddie Cockburn and Kate Perkins, fought galantly against the moot 'School uniforms are good for us', however sadly lost to Lumsden, but it was an extremely close race resulting in great feedback. Last week, the St Peter's Affirmative team debated against Blue Mountain College team and won by a convincing score of 30 points. This team consisted of; Rachael Miller, Georgie Crowley, Louisa Kotkamp and Bonnie Miller, and now they move into the second round against Fiordland College, where the very topical moot is 'Plastic - is the last straw' - no pun intended. Go St Peter's!
