There is no stopping Taylah Friend (Year 12) who currently holds the NZ Champion in her age/weight group in Wrestling. Taylah was selected in the New Zealand Olympic Wrestling Development team and headed to Indiana, USA to train and compete, where she won Gold (being only 1 of the 2 Gold Medals to go to the team while they were on tour). This season she has won the Otago, Canterbury, North Island and South Island Championships. Last weekend she competed at the South Island Championships and picked up the TM Connor’s Cup for Most Promising Junior Wrestler. Taylah and John Steele from Blue Mountain College (the other Secondary School aged wrestler in the club) also received the IB Roberts Inter-Secondary Schools’ Challenge Trophy. Taylah, you have worked hard and your dedication to this sport has really paid off. Well done!
Congratulations to the following students who have been selected in the 2019 Southland U18 Girls Rugby Squad.
Congratulations to the following St Peter’s students who have been named in the Southland U13 Hatch Squad for 2019.
We are still planning holiday courses, and some are filling up fast. If you wish to enroll in either Defensive Driving or Liquor License, please put your name down at the Careers Office. Details on both courses are available on our Facebook page (Career Pathways for St Peter’s College students) These lists will be closing off the last week of June so enroll today.
Gateway students are still out and about at their placements and most will continue into Term Three.
On Wednesday this week the year 7 - 9 students travelled to Dunedin to compete against Kavanagh, St Kevin’s and Verdon College in the Junior Catholic Schools’ Tournament.
Our Futsal, Netball and Basketball teams played at the Edgar Centre while the Rugby boys played out at Kettle Park.
It was a great day of competition between the schools and highlights included St Peter’s coming out on top in the overall standings in Futsal and Rugby.
A huge thanks to the parents, coaches and staff who came along to help with the teams and support the students.
