Caitlyn Tweedie (Year 10) applied for a 5 day Working Student Boot camp with the Wilson Sisters in Whangarei through a Facebook opportunity that came up. After submitting her application which included a 'CV' of her achievements and work experience, Caitlyn was one of eight girls who were chosen to attend, with two being chosen from the South Island to ride Amanda Wilson's own horses. This was such an awesome experience for Caitlyn!
Included in their time, there were daily lessons, sore horse clinics, bandaging, saddle fitting, hack out over the farm, lots of hard work and lots of fun. Such a valuable experience, and a lot of knowledge shared. You can read below a letter Amanda Wilson sent Caitlyn after the camp.
It was a pleasure having you at my very first Working Student Bootcamp (aptly named after this week)! I was so impressed with your transformation from the start of the week to the finish, especially riding such a big powerful horse that you’d only just sat on five days ago. I was also so impressed by how well you took my instruction (even when I was very tough). You came back a better rider than ever and today’s finish was just the icing on the cake, with a picture to go with it!
Keep up the great work and best of luck for the coming season.

On Saturday, September 1st , the student body will be hosting a Sports Themed Mass at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 7pm. This will be held at the Saturday vigil service that usually occurs.
This mass is to give thanks for and celebrate the successful and safe seasons that so many of us have had this winter.
It is also an opportunity for the tournament teams to get some “extra good luck” from God and ask for strength as we tackle Winter Tournament week and get the results that we deserve. We thought that it would be a great way to all come together and celebrate.
All St Peter’s senior sports teams, along with their coaches and managers, and all those attending Winter Tournament are expected to be there. If you are a junior and would like to attend to celebrate your season then you are more than welcome to attend as well.
There will be a small supper afterwards as well, that we will put together (but only if you show up to Mass!). Thank you and see you there.
