On Monday, 30 students from Year 7 and 8 were very lucky to attend the first Kids Connecting Competition (KCC) at the MLT events center.
The day was created and organised by our very own Head Students, Fraser Ditchfield and Dakoda Conroy who saw a need for a competition between schools to ultimately offer an opportunity for our students to meet new people and make some new friends. 30 students from Longford Intermediate were invited to attend and participated in a variety of different sports and team building exercises throughout the day.
Fraser, Dakoda and their team of Year 12 & 13 students were a well oiled machine and ensured the day was a huge success.
I want to take this opportunity to thank them and their team on an extremely well run event!

On Tuesday, 27th November the Year 9 students took part in the Junior Sports Day. Students had the chance to take part in a sport they weren’t very familiar with or for those that had played in the sport before, an opportunity to take a leadership role within the team.
Good healthy competition was had between the students and other schools and the progress within the chosen sports was clear throughout the day as they became more confident and capable with what they were doing.
The day was a great advocate for participation and for students trying new things.

On Tuesday, November 27, all Year 9 students will take part in the Junior Sports Day run by Sport Southland. These sports will take place around Gore with the aim of getting students to take part in new sports they are perhaps not accustomed to or take on a leadership role within a team.
Students will come to school in their sports gear and will meet in the hall after Period 1, where they will be put into their team groups before heading to their sports with a supervising teacher.
Students should bring a packed lunch as there will not be an opportunity to buy lunch.
At the end of the sports day, around 1:30pm-2pm, the students will be free to leave from their sport and will not need to return to school.
