On Tuesday, November 26th our Year 9 students participated in a Junior Sports Day organised by Southland Secondary Schools’ Sport. There was a wide range of sports on offer, from pickleball to ice hockey. It was great to see our students giving their chosen sport a go and having such a great time.

Well done to Jack Abernethy, Ella King, Jordan King and Cruze Smith who represented Eastern at the Southland Primary School Golf Tournament which was held at the Drummond Golf Course recently. While the team didn't finish with a place on the podium, they certainly had fun trying.
Best of luck to Ethan Friend (Year 9) and Sophie Shallard (Year 11) who will be travelling to Wellington to compete in the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Track, Field and Road Championships. All the best!
Congratulations to MacLean Sharp (Year 10) who competed in the Croydon Hotel Triathlon last Sunday. MacLean competed in the 16 and under section and placed 2nd overall. MacLean also took out the Southland Junior Triathlon Championship Trophy. Well done MacLean!
On Friday, 22nd November our Year 7 and 8 students took part in a Swimming Festival to celebrate the completion of the MLT funded swimming lessons that they had been doing for the previous two weeks. To cater for the various abilities of our students we ran both competitive swimming events, and non-competitive events such as the doggy paddle. It was great to see the students giving the events a go and supporting their fellow students…. my ears are still ringing from the house relays! Thank you to all the parents who came along to support the students, and to all the staff who helped make this event a success.
