Rugby Round Up!!

Posted Tuesday September 12, 2023

St Peter's College rugby club, players and our whānau would like to publicly acknowledge Mercury Energy in the extremely generous sponsorship of our CLUB warm up and training jackets. We are super fortunate with this sponsorship at whole club level - it is absolutely AMAZING!

A huge thank you, to Katy Scoullar and Stu Davies at Mercury that enabled this sponsorship - we are deeply appreciative of your generosity. Thanks also to Kaiwera Downs farmer, Al Wilson, who initiated this - top work, Al! Here is Moss who has been up at the Kaiwera Downs Wind Farm checking on the progress with Stu. Those windbreakers are working a treat!

As we are all but finished rugby for this 2023 campaign, I would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank our dedicated and passionate coaches and managers, who have assisted in skill set development for the betterment of our boys and girls. We were privileged to have a total of nine teams across this season. This looks like seventeen coaches and ten managers all dedicating their time and energy - thank you doesn't really suffice what you have dedicated to our rugby players. We feel blessed to have such a magnificent bunch of adults helping to shape, encourage and support our tamariki, alongside fostering the element of fun and friendship in the rugby space.

As a Club, St Peter's College rugby is so fortunate to have a group of dedicated volunteers that are passionate about rugby. We recently acknowledged one of our volunteers - Michelle Davers, who is stepping down from the secretary role.

Michelle has been in the rugby scene for over thirteen years, including previous positions and involvement at Edendale and Albion clubs, alongside Eastern Southland secretary.

We thank you for all your hard work and the contribution you have made to not only St Peter's rugby, but the wider rugby community. Thanks for being our efficient secretary and we thank you for your time and commitment for rugby.

Thanks so much, to Pioneer Rugby club for the use of your facilities - club rooms, lights and practice pitch over this season. It has been greatly appreciated! Also, to Zane and Cee Jay at Rosmini House Hostel for the use of the kitchen for our Progressive Livestock First XV after match functions. Thanks for sharing your space with us. Aren't we so fortunate to have this giving community around us!

If you supported one of our rugby teams in any way shape or form this season, then we appreciate you! It is fair to say that St Peter's College supporters were positive, vocal and in good spirits - our sidelines were packed for both home and away games. Thanks to you all for your loyalty and support - it didn't go unnoticed.

All the best for the non-rugby season - we look forward to 2024.

Enjoy the down time - maybe practice passing from both sides and go for a few runs!

Over and out,

Dana
