This year the Student Council has come up with a range of different topics that we have discussed and as the year 7’s have settled into the school we have just newly appointed two representatives to join the Student Council team. One of the suggestions that has recently arisen from our meetings from the year 10 representatives, was to bring back the traditional school tie to the junior school, which would be worn in terms 2-3. Classes were surveyed from year 7-13 on whether they would support this idea. Along with the survey response of 24 staff members and 105 parents all the data was taken as a proposal idea to the Board of Trustees. The Board has agreed to add a statement to the uniform policy for the junior boys and junior girls stating that ‘Ties are an optional part of the winter uniform but must be worn when requested for formal occasions’. This means students in year 7-10 are now able to wear ties but if they choose to ties must be worn correctly. We are excited to see how this idea will go!
