Welcome Back to St Peter’s College 2017!
I would like to warmly welcome all our new families and I am sure that you will enjoy being part of our St Peter’s College family. The atmosphere has had a really positive vibe this week as our transition into school has been happening. Boarders began arriving last Saturday and took part in an excellent retreat for three days in preparation for the new year; Year 13s had a planning day on Monday so they could organise the Junior Support programme and lead our new Year 7 and 8 students the following day at their orientation; as a staff we welcomed five new teachers and we then began our year with a Powhiri on Wednesday. Thank you to John and Grace Rogerson, Vanessa Edwards, and Terry Stott who, alongside our Maori Leaders Tailah Robinson and Sonny Harden, led our powhiri to welcome new members to our community. It was very pleasing to have parents also attend this – thank you for being part of this.
You will see above that our over-arching theme this year is ‘learning to see Jesus in the face of others’. During the next few newsletters you will read more about this as we also introduce this to the students.
I would like to remind you about our whanau evenings for parents of years 7 – 10. We consider these to be ‘compulsory’ for all our parents as the relationship you have with us as a school for your child needs to be strong and reciprocal. Details about these evenings were in the end of year mail out and you will find the same information in an email accompanying this newsletter if you missed it the first time. I look forward to seeing you all very soon.
Nga mihi nui
