We had the pleasure of having one of our past pupils, Damian Ryan, who spoke to our school assembly about his time at school and the importance it has had on his life after leaving St Peter’s. Damian is a researcher and senior analyst with international NGO The Climate Group, based in London. His work crosses a wide variety of climate related issues including economics, climate science, technology and international politics. His specialist area is the UN climate negotiation process. In a former role with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Wellington, Damian worked on both climate change and international trade negotiations for New Zealand. In his current role he works closely with colleagues in the US, China, Europe and India following developments in clean energy and climate change in these regions. It is so important that our students see and hear from students who have left school and appreciate that this is a wonderful school for giving our students the ‘Preparation for Life’ as is our school motto.
