Because St Peter's College is an integrated school, prospective students must enrol either for preference or non-preference places.
If you are considering enrolment, please read the information below and either complete the online enrolment form at the bottom of this page, or call in to the school office to pick up a paper copy.
Please note that we sometimes meet families who are surprised to find out that they can complete a preference enrolment. If you would like to check which type of enrolment is right for you, please contact us.

PREFERENCE PLACES
Most catholic schools give preference to students who can establish “a particular or general religious connection with the Special Character of the school”.
Preference places are given to students who meet one or more of the criteria below:
If you believe your child qualifies for preference you should visit the Parish Priest in your area so that he may consider your case. If he can be presented with sufficient evidence he will sign the appropriate form to grant preference. You can then bring that form to the school so that your child might be considered for preference enrolment.
Preference places are given to students who meet one or more of the criteria below:
- The child has been baptised or is being prepared for baptism in the Catholic Church.
- The child’s parents or guardians have already allowed one or more of their siblings to be baptised in the Catholic faith.
- At least one parent/guardian is Catholic, and although their child has not yet been baptised, the child’s participation in the life of the school could lead to the parents having the child baptised.
- With the agreement of the child’s parent/guardian, a grandparent or other significant adult in the child’s life, such as an aunt, uncle or godparent, undertakes to support the child’s formation in the faith and practices of the Catholic Church.
- One of the child’s non-Catholic parents/guardians is preparing to become Catholic.

NON-PREFERENCE PLACES (OPEN PLACES)
By law, St Peter’s College is allowed to enrol only 5% of its maximum roll whose families do not have “a particular or general religious connection with the Special Character of the school”. Such students are described as non-preference. Each year, due to student graduation, a small number of places become available.
Parents considering non-preference places are encouraged to approach the school prior to the end of July to be considered for one of these places.
Our procedure for non-preference enrolment involves an interview of the parents and child by the Principal. The interviews are held in August to ensure that unsuccessful families are able to make other arrangements.
The following timeline is in place for 2019:
July 30th Open Night
August 9th All enrolment documentation including the parish form to be received by the office
August 16th Email will be sent indicating whether an interview has been granted
August 19th – 23rd Open place interviews held
August 27th Decision made regarding enrolment for 2020
During the interview, the Principal endeavours to establish that the family:
This last criterion is important since our selection is based on student need rather than academic, cultural or sporting giftedness. Once enrolled a non-preference student is treated no differently to any other.

- will support the school in matters relating to Special Character;
- is willing to pay Attendance Dues (primary $111.25/term, secondary $216.25/term); and
- would benefit from having their child at St Peter’s College rather than another school.
