HWR Group Visits SPC Science Class

On Thursday, 20th November, Mrs Thompson's science class had Blake, Trevor, and Stephanie visit from Change Fuel Technologies, which is part of the HWR Group. They brought their demonstrator vehicle, which was a dual-fuel Dodge RAM that runs on both hydrogen and diesel. We learned about the HWR trucks that run on dual fuel, which reduces the amount of diesel used by up to 50% and therefore the carbon emissions associated with burning fossil fuels, as well as the potential growth of this technology in the future. We not only learned about the science but also the complex economic benefits and opportunities for companies that are embracing this forward-thinking technology and the move away from total fossil-fuel reliance. The students gained a great deal from this experience, and it was great to put our classroom teaching into context.
