Millie McFadzien's Cross Country Season for 2024.

Posted Thursday June 20, 2024

We started off with our school Cross Country on 7th May where Millie raced in the Senior Girls. Crossing the line in 1st and completing the 5km run in 21.17 mins, which was a new SPC Record.

Millie then went on to compete at the Southland Secondary Schools Cross Country in Te Anau on Wednesday, 15th May. Again, Millie lined up in the Senior Girls section with the course being more challenging terrain-wise but a shorter distance of 4km. Millie absolutely smashed this out coming 1st in a time of 15:18 minutes

Next on Millie’s radar was the South Island Secondary Schools event which was held in Timaru on Sunday, 26th May. Millie took to the 3km course and came a gutsy 3rd place. This was a who's who of runners from all over the South Island, so this was an exceptional run here from Millie.

Finally, Millie has just come back from competing at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country in Christchurch on 15th June. Runners from all over NZ and abroad fighting it out, with Millie crossing the finish line in 17th place out of 113 runners and being the 14th Kiwi home. Millie ran this 4km race in a time of 15:01 minutes and was less than a minute behind the 1st place getter.

Congratulations Millie on an awesome season. Your dedication to your training and work ethic is inspirational and you thoroughly deserve all your success.
