Cross Country

Posted Thursday May 8, 2025

St Peter’s Cross Country was held Tuesday, 6th May in chilly but clear conditions.

Congratulations to all the students who took part.

Students had the option to either compete in the Competitive section or run the Non-Competitive Colour Run.

There are 3 competitive courses. Juniors (Yr 7&8’s) run 2.6km, Intermediates (Yr 9&10’s) run 4km and the Seniors (Yr 11,12,13) run 5km.

A big thank you to all the staff who helped on the course and kept runners on the right track.

Also, thank you to Mrs Brenssell and the Year 12 P.E Class that put together the Colour Run – it was very well received and enjoyed by all who gave it a go.

Records:

Confirmed – 2 Records broken in 2025.

Congratulations to Millie McFadzien who ran extremely well and still had just enough left in the tank to sprint the home straight and in doing so broke her own existing Senior Girls record of 21:17 minutes set in 2024, crossing the finish line in an awesome time of 20:24 minutes.

Lily Wiegersma was also impressive on the day, breaking the existing Junior Girls Record held by Libby McKinnell of 10:52 minutes set in 2015. Lily kept a very consistent pace the whole way round and finished in a time of 10:50 minutes, shaving the slightest of margins (2 seconds) off to take the record.

Winning House:

Total House points are calculated by adding Competitive Points plus Colour Run Participation points together.

For the Competitive Cross Country, the more people you pass, the more house points you get. The points are allocated according to how many people are in the race.  For example, if there are 54 boys in the Senior Boys race, the person who gets 1st will gain 54 points for their house, 2nd 53 points, 3rd 52 points and so on.

For all those that did not want to run competitively and gave the Colour Run a go, all participants received 1 House point.
