Last weekend was the Final dance Competition of the year for SPC Dancers Aaliyah Silvestre and Dada Chantaraviroj. A warm and sunny weekend in Alexandra was just what the dancers needed after not being able to get to Palmerston North for the National Young Performer awards over Labour weekend, due to flights cancellations amid stormy weather.
The dancers finished as they started the year, with some great results.
Dada and Aaliyah were 1st place with their Duo, Dada was 3rd place with her solo and Dada's trio with partners Pip and Mikayla was also 3rd.
There were some large classes of competitors, so to maintain podium finishes was no mean feat.
This was a bittersweet Competition, as it was the final time for all three performers to be on Stage. Dada and Pip head off to Otago University next year. We look forward to seeing new performances from our SPC dancers in 2026
