Kia ora e te whānau

It seems only yesterday that we started this year; however, we are now entering into the last week of Term Two. I firstly want to thank all those parents, community members and staff who have this year volunteered their time to coach teams, attend camps and lead various cultural activities. Your generosity means that our students are able to participate in so many different opportunities during their time at the College.

As we celebrate the season of Matariki, the traditional beginning of the Māori New Year, it is a time for us to reflect on new beginnings and opportunities. This is also a time, traditionally, to reflect on the year that has been, to celebrate what is present and look to the future. I hope the public holiday allows all our students and their whānau to reflect on goals for the rest of the year. 2025 is quickly moving, getting closer to the finish.

Our Eisteddfod competition was a rather entertaining and enjoyable feature of the term. Many of the performances were of a high calibre and it was great to see the majority of students participating in at least a couple of events. A big thank you to all the judges involved and those who helped to make it happen. A special thanks to Mrs Lou Dickson and Mr Stephen Bryant who did a lot of the organisation to make the event the success it was.

Enrolments for 2026 are now open and I would encourage you to book an appointment early if you have a child you want to enrol in the College. We have an Open Night on Wednesday 30th of July starting at 5:30pm here at the College. If you know of anyone thinking of sending their child here, then encourage them to come along to the Open Night.

I want to highlight that we are coming up to St Peter’s Day which is on Friday 27th of June, the last day of term. We will have a full school mass at 9:30am at the Parish which all parents etc are invited to. The day will continue back at the College with a range of activities to celebrate our foundation, the founding orders and our school community.

Lastly, I want to draw your attention to an email that will be sent out next week that will contain information around some changes being made to the school for Term Three and Four. It will also contain a link to a survey requesting parental feedback on what you think makes for good and effective teaching practice.

I wish everyone a relaxing term break and I look forward to seeing all the students back in Term Three rested and eager to make the most of the learning opportunities in front of them.
