Intervention Outcomes
With the prospect of a new School Board following the upcoming triennial School Board elections, the key focus of the intervention will be to foster the development of a strong, positive working relationship between management and governance.
Over the last two terms, the School Board has been working as a very cohesive and effective team and has made significant progress towards achieving the remaining intervention outcomes which are:
1. The Board will ensure that human resource management procedures and practices promote and support high quality education outcomes and safety.
2. The Board will develop and maintain relationships with professional and/or other staff based on trust, integrity, openness, clarity about roles and responsibilities, transparency, and shared knowledge, in the interests of improving valued outcomes.
3. The Board will review and reflect on Board performance and effectiveness in terms of the school vision, values, strategic direction, goals, and priorities, and seek relevant advice and support where required.
4. The Board will effectively manage the performance of the Principal linking the school’s strategic direction, goals, priorities and targets, appraisal goals, and appropriate professional learning and development opportunities.
5. The Board will have an explicit and relentless focus on student learning, wellbeing, achievement, and progress.
Board Elections
Nominations are now open for five parent elected representatives. There will also be an election for a Staff Representative and a Student Representative. The Board additionally includes up to four representatives appointed by the Diocese.
Ruth Mitchell, Adele McGarry and Vince Sharp have advised that they will not be seeking re-election and I would like to thank them for the valuable contributions they have each made to the work of the Board and to acknowledge their unwavering advocacy for the students of St Peter’s College.
Strategic Plan 2026 - 2028
The Board is currently obtaining data from the whole school community to inform the development of the 2026 – 2028 Strategic Plan which will be an important task for the incoming Board to complete.
Education Review Office Report
The recommendations arising from the Education Review Office visit at the end of last term will also help inform the Strategic Plan as well as the Annual Implementation Plan and supporting Budget for 2026. Once the ERO Report has been finalised it will be made available to the school community.
Financial Reporting
The consolidation of the School’s Annual Accounts with the Hostel Trust’s Annual Accounts for auditing remains an outstanding issue and is preventing the Board from being able to meet its Financial Reporting obligations. The situation is being closely monitored by the Board and support is being provided to the Trust to assist it with meeting the Auditor General’s requirements.
