Junior Adventure Race

The conditions were perfect as our teams competed in the Junior Adventure Race at Oreti Sands. Over 200 teams (800+ kids) from schools all over Southland and a few from Otago biked, trekked, and kayaked their way around the course. Some teams blitzed the course, most teams got thoroughly soaking wet, and some teams took a couple of wrong turns adding extra time to their race – but all finished! Well done to everyone who gave it a crack.

Congratulations to our two teams who finished in the top 10 of their age groups. The SPC Warriors – Mason Chittock, Archie Jackson, Isaiah Mitchell, and Jackson White – came 6th out of 72 Yr 9 and 10 teams in a time of 2:08:00.

Georgina Gray, Indy Ware, Piper Cunningham, and Lily Wiegersma came 7th out of 126 Yr 7 and 8 teams in a time of 2:29:00.

To put these times into context, some teams took over 4 hours!
