Kia ora e te whānau

Since our last newsletter, we have had a range of teams out for Winter Tournament Week competing in a number of sports. Firstly, I would like to thank all the coaches, parents, and staff who have made it possible for our students to participate in these events. To all the students who competed - take the learnings from the experience and build for future years and competitions.

As we draw towards the end of the term, there are a few events and dates to draw your attention to. On Friday 19th of September, the last day of term there will be a Cultural Day, which will be mufti. Students are not required to bring anything for this day but are encouraged to come in their cultural attire. Students will be in their usual timetabled classes for periods one to four.

At this stage, the PPTA will also be carrying out rolling strikes as part of their process of negotiating the next collective agreement. The rolling strikes means that students in particular year levels will not be taught that day. Since we are short of relievers in this area, as a college we cannot provide teachers on those days for that particular year level. This means that those students will be rostered home.

Monday 15 September – Year 12 and 13
Tuesday 16 September – Year 11
Wednesday 17 September – Year 10

Thursday 18 September – Year 9

The rolling strikes do not impact on Year 7 and 8 students at all. Should the rolling strikes be called off, we will inform all parents once we know. At this stage, they will be proceeding as planned by the PPTA.

Finally, a reminder to parents to return their BOT voting papers to the College before the closing date on 10th of September. We are fortunate this year to have seven candidates standing for the five spots.
