Our SPC dancers had an amazing day of workshops and competition at the annual DanceNZMade Interschool Event in Invercargill.
Seven dancers from Year 8-13 took part in five hours of workshops, followed by the competition for solos, duos and troupes.
It was a 15 hour day, and the girls all worked so hard to learn the new choreography from three tutors.
Two of the dancers were rewarded for their outstanding efforts in the workshops by being awarded "Golden Tickets." Not dissimilar to the Gold Buzzer on America's Got Talent, the Golden Tickets give direct entry to the National Golden Dance Awards, being held in Palmerston North in January.
We are super proud of Aaliyah Silvestre and Dada Chantaraviroj for being awarded their Golden Tickets.
Dada and Aaliyah also competed in the evening and were thrilled to come away with 1st Runner-Up in the Open Duos and 2nd Runner-Up overall for all the duos and trios at the competition.
With the larger schools having many dancers competing, it was wonderful to see our small team doing so well.
SPC dancers were:
Dada Chantaraviroj (Year 13)
Aaliyah Silvestre (Year 10)
Siam Kelly (Year 10)
Rehansa Karunaratne (Year 10)
Julia Morus (Year 10)
Liliana McGregor (Year
Olivia Cooper (Year
We look forward to seeing more dancers participating in the competition next year and encourage all SPC dancers to come along for the workshops.
