On  5th - 7th of April, five St Peter’s students competed at the 2024 South Island Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships. There were many great results by the SPC students throughout the weekend. A highlight was Millie McFadzien coming 1st in the U16 girls 2000m Steeplechase with a personal best time of 7:18.36, and also coming 1st in the U16 girls 3000m. Other results from the SPC students were Ava Wiegersma coming 4th in the U16 Girls High Jump, jumping 1.55m, Jessica Drummond coming 8th in the U15 Girls Triple Jump, jumping 9.55m, also coming 14th in the U16 Girls High Jump and 16th in the U16 Girls Long Jump. Courtney White came 10th in the U15 Girls 400m with a personal best of 1:07.88 and came 11th in the U15 Girls 800m. Layne Talbot came 12th in the U14 Boys Javelin throw, with a throw of 23.06m. Every one of these students should be very proud of their achievements against some of the best athletes in the South Island. It will be great to see these SPC students and others at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Track and Field Championship in Timaru at the end of the year.
