On Monday, a group of our Year 9 and 10 ākonga chose to spend the day in the art room with Mrs Esterline and Ms Sorrell working on an all-day painting project.
We began by learning about devotional votives which are small painted panels traditionally made to honour a figure of deep personal significance. From there, each ākonga selected a saint (or proposed someone they felt should be one) and designed a painting before bringing it to life.
Some of the finished votives are now on display in the office. They look great; go and have a look when you walk past. They'll be there till Friday!
A big thank you to Mrs Esterline for her guidance and creativity, Ms Sorrell for her collaborative help and Mr McAllister for cutting the beautiful wooden panels for the project.
