While thinking about online behaviour and devices, it’s probably good at this end of the year to remind everyone about the use of mobile phones here at school.
Students are permitted to have mobile phones at school, but they are only allowed to be out in classrooms at the request of teaching staff. All students have access to keyboard devices for teaching and learning purposes and phones are only to be out of bags and visible when needed. This might be to take photos of work, experiments etc. If students are feeling unwell our process is that they should tell the classroom teacher who will send them to sickbay. If a student needs to be picked up, the ladies in the School Office will call parents to ask for this to happen. It is important that teaching and learning time is maximised in the classroom. Please do not call or text students during class time. The temptation to check one’s phone when it vibrates is huge for students, and not helpful when trying to get through work. If you have any questions about either the Whanau Evening or the use of mobile phones at school, please do contact me. Nga mihi, Bridget Ryan DP Teaching and Learning
