As we know Principal Kate Nicholson’s final day at the College will be Friday 30th August, and the Board of Trustees has embarked on a robust recruitment process. Advertising for the role is now live on the Education Gazette website, and we have contracted Mary Ann Baxter to work alongside the Board in an Advisory Role for the next 3 months to ensure we get the right “fit” for our College. This is a little about Mary Ann:
Tēnā koutou My lifetime of educational experiences has included teaching and middle and senior leadership roles across the primary, secondary and tertiary education sectors. During the past twenty years I have enjoyed being a Deputy Principal at Kavanagh College, as well as being the Principal of Hamilton Girls High School. My last seven years have seen me working across early childhood to tertiary as a senior leadership consultant, including supporting senior leadership teams’ and Principals’ professional learning around leadership, and change in education, and as an Expert Partner for a Community of Learning (CoL). As well I have worked alongside Boards of Trustees, Principals and senior leaders, as a critical friend/appraiser, and also as an adviser/recruitment consultant to Boards in the process of appointing Principals across both primary and secondary. Nāku iti noa, nā Both Parents and Staff will be invited to share their expectations of an ideal candidate via surveys in the coming weeks. This is a critical appointment so we encourage as much constructive feedback as possible!” Karl Metzler BOT Chairperson
