On Monday, 20th May our intrepid Year 13 Biologists headed up to the Marine Studies Centre in Portobello. Leaving the rain behind, we had a trip onto the beach to observe the Half Crab in its natural environment. Over the next 2 days the group became very familiar with this type of crab.
Each pupil designed and carried out their own experiment to investigate how changing one environmental factor impacted on a behaviour of the crab. We stayed at the hostel on Quarantine Island and the pupils enjoyed exploring this piece of Otago's history. A huge thank you to Mrs Thompson and Bontle Theo for all their help on the day.
