It is great to be back at school and working with the students on their learning plans.

Hokonui Tertiary High School are straight back into their course with students leaving on Thursday and Friday to their respective courses.

Gateway students are taking a little longer to ease back into their work placements, which is understandable considering the upheaval our local businesses have had to deal with over the past weeks.

Year 13’s will be starting to look at their options for next year. Year 13 students will not be disadvantaged around liaison visits from the different tertiary providers.  They are providing webinars and zoom meetings to answer questions and information around the subjects and costs involved for study in 2021.  The students are encouraged to check out the different websites and contact the liaison officer with any queries they may have.
For all students, MoneyHub is a great FREE resource for all students who are at school or planning to move on at the end of the year.  A resource they have available for students is their Scholarship section which details all scholarships available in New Zealand for students moving into tertiary study. Go to:

Money Hub has also launched a new section for students still at school called Money in a Nutshell. Here is what it contains:

Creating a life within your means is incredibly important. You can save, buy a property and enjoy things that you value. The alternative, spending more than you earn, is, in no uncertain terms, a recipe for disaster. Eventually, the long-term debt created to meet short-term needs hits a brick wall, and bad things happen.

Why should I read this guide?
We’ve put this guide together for one reason – to give you the tools and information so you can develop a great relationship with money. We cover what we consider to be the core foundations of financial education. And best of all, we’ve done our very best to make it as engaging as we can.
