What a wonderful group of young people, ready to take all of their fantastic talents and skills, along with their St Peter’s values, out into the world.  Thank you to Fr Vaughan Hook who celebrated Mass for us yesterday in Fr Damian’s absence – it was great to welcome you back for the day, Fr Vaughan.   Along with the wonderful singing and traditional leavers’ farewell, a special time was had by all. Thank you to all the Year 13 students for their sense of fun, commitment and friendship in the time they have been with us. You will be missed.
Yesterday afternoon, I had the pleasure and the privilege of listening to the leadership speeches by the year 12 students applying for leadership roles for 2019. After hearing from the 24 young people wanting to serve the school next year, I have no doubt that the same wonderful working relationship we have had with recent year 13 groups will continue into 2019.  We farewell the Year 11s on Friday and wish all our seniors well for their study leave and NCEA exams.
Congratulations to Sophie Shallard who was nominated for an award at the Southland Secondary Sports Awards and to Tom McKenzie and Harriett Cuttance who were awarded ‘Future Champions’ awards. Well done to all of you.
Come along on Sunday to the PTFA’s Car Boot and Bake Sale. Please remember to bring baking for the house stalls and to have your children there on time for rostered duties. It should be a great day for some shopping so please support the PTFA in this fundraiser.
I also encourage you to come along to our consultation evening next Wednesday at school. Come and find out what your children experience at school and give us your input about what you want to see them experiencing at school. We value your opinions. Please let the office know if you are attending for catering purposes.
As we farewell our seniors this week, part of St Patrick’s well known prayer seems appropriate.

I arise today
Through God’s strength to pilot me;
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to protect me,

Kate Nicholson
